My Fridays are dedicated to assembling the knits that our customers create. I happen to love this part of the process, and working at home in my little cottage makes it even better. The last pullover I had in my hands, made in two shades of Berroco's Mantra silk, had me asking 'Won't somebody think of the Finisher?'. The fault was not with the knitter, but with the pattern, and there is an easy fix. The sleeve increases were worked right at the edge, which makes for a less than perfect seam, especially in a thin silk. A little trick you can do is make those increases 1 or 2 stitches in from the edge, as a M1, or Make 1. No need to do one to the left and the other to the right, just scoop up the bar between the stitches from the front, with the tip of the left needle, and knit this 'stitch' through the back. This provides a smooth path for the seam, and those M1s are tidy. Okay, well I am off to the cottage to sort out today's jobs. I hope you have a great weekend, and that there is a little time to knit or stitch. Perhaps we can come up with some instructional videos for fixes and finishing! Something to chew on while I sew...so many distractions...ee gads...
